Your contact details must appear on every product you import — either on the product itself, on its packaging, or in an accompanying document. As a minimum you need: your company name (or registered trademark), postal address, and ideally a website or email. This lets regulators and end users trace the product back to you as the importer.

Legal text

Article 19(3) of Regulation (EU) 2024/2847 requires that importers shall indicate their name, registered trade name or their registered trademark, and the postal address as well as, where available, the website, email address or other digital contact details at which they can be contacted, on the product or on its packaging or in a document accompanying the product with digital elements.

Contact details shall be in a language easily understood by end users and market surveillance authorities.

Key requirements

  1. Importer identity — full company name, or registered trade name/trademark
  2. Postal address — physical address where the importer can be reached
  3. Digital contact — website, email or equivalent (where available)
  4. Placement — on the product, on the packaging, or in accompanying documentation
  5. Language — must be understandable by end users and market surveillance

Evidence you may need

  • Product labelling or packaging samples showing importer details
  • Template for accompanying documentation where labelling space is insufficient
  • Translation records where non-English labelling is used in member states
